Om Raut's directorial 'Adipurush' released in theatres on Friday (June 16). Starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in lead roles, the movie has earned Rs 340 crore at the global box office in just three days.
Despite the collection, the film received mixed reviews from fans and critics. People have criticised the cringe dialogue and poor VFX.
As per the latest update, Adipurush's co-writer Manoj Muntashir has been given security cover by Mumbai Police after he cited a threat to his life.
The writer is facing backlash for the dialogues in the movie, which many feel are indecent and objectionable, particularly those of Hanuman in the Lanka Dahan scene.
"Mumbai Police provides security to dialogue writer of #Adipurush, Manoj Muntashir after he sought a security cover citing a threat to his life. Police say that they are investigating the matter," news agency ANI reported on Monday.
Many Hindu organisations have opposed the film over its content and controversial dialogues.
Recently, the screening of Adipurush was stopped at a theatre, in the Nalasopara Area in Maharashtra's Palghar district. The volunteers of a Hindu organisation created ruckus in the theatre during the film's screening and the screening had to be stopped immediately.
Reportedly, protests over the film was also reported in Hazratganj in Lucknow on Monday, where some of the protestors were detained by police over burning effigy of Manoj Muntashir.
After receiving backlash over the filn's dialogue, the makers on Sunday announced that they will make ‘alterations’ to the film’s dialogues.
“The makers are revisiting the said dialogues, ensuring to resonate with core essence of the film and the same will reflect in the theatres in the next few days. This decision is a testament that in spite of unstoppable collections at the Box Office, the team is committed and nothing is beyond the sentiments of their audiences and harmony at large," a statement issued by T-Series read.
“Our aim was to present the true heroes of Sanatan to our younger generation. There is an objection to 5 dialogues and they will be changed. If people are not liking some parts, then it’s our responsibility to fix them," Manoj Muntashir told ANI.
