YouTube now allow Creators with 500 Subscribers to Earn Money

YouTube on Tuesday (June 13) made an announcement regarding its YouTube Partner Program (YPP) to help more creators make money on YouTube.

"We’re expanding the program by introducing earlier access to YPP with lower eligibility criteria that will help you start earning on YouTube sooner by opening up access to fan funding features like channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Thanks, and more. We’re also introducing an update to our YouTube Shopping affiliate program for creators who are further along in their journey," YouTube said in a blog post.

Under the program, creators will need to meet the following requirements to be eligible to earn money on YouTube:

They must have at least 500 subscribers, three valid public uploads within 90 days, and either 3,000 public watch hours in the past year or three million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Once accepted into the program, creators will gain access to a range of useful tools such as Super Thanks, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. They will also be able to utilize subscription tools like channel memberships and promote their own merchandise through YouTube Shopping.

Earlier, only creators with a minimum of 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days could join the program. The criteria for ad revenue sharing and YouTube Premium benefits will remain unchanged.

"We’re starting to roll out this new level of YPP to creators in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea, and will introduce earlier access to YPP across all countries where YPP is available over time," YouTube said in the blog post.
